Looking at technology, eyes focused on the human being

A thoroughly enjoyable collaboration: The Emerging Technologies Lab at Tampere University are doing some fancy cross-disciplinary anthroposociology (yes I’m sure that’s the proper academic term) taking a close look at us while we implement social media at work, gamble away our income, and take out all kinds of frustration by shouting at each other without meeting face to face.

They asked me to make 14 new illustrations for their website & other platforms. There are quite a few drops of coffee in them (leftover coffee = high quality ink).

The research group also commissioned a logo:

Each image contains aspects of information technology – taking inspiration from concepts, like networks, or hands-on stuff like circuit boards – and the human at the centre of it all, represented by colour shades, organic shapes and graphical elements taken from the primate body. Themes include ”Technology and the Self”, ”AI in society”, ”Social media at the workplace”, ”Cyberhate”, and ”Gambling in the digital age”.
